How ethical tech organizations in Europe can collaborate to help Europe achieve sovereignty. The Fair Tech Summit Europe brings together those already building open, ethical and independent technologies — to make collaboration easier, scale up impact, and shape Europe's digital future together.
Collaborate
Bring projects and people together, facilitate exchange, and foster concrete connections between organizations already working towards European digital sovereignty.
Coordinate
Create a meeting space where joint initiatives begin — to align strategy, share resources, and build the European fair-tech ecosystem together rather than in parallel.
Scale up
Make European fair-tech work visible: the products, the people, the policy. Help Europe choose, build and govern its own technology stack — and bring it to the mainstream.
Not a fixed definition. A shared inquiry.
We see fair and ethical technology as something shaped by practice, experience and dialogue — not a fixed checklist. These twelve principles are an open foundation for discussion, to be challenged, refined and expanded collectively at the summit.
Big Tech has made unethical business practices, such as personal data collection and unsustainable and inhuman production, feel normal. We want to change this status quo. With the Fair Tech Summit, we are bringing together key innovators in Europe that work to develop technology that is easy and user-friendly for anyone to use, while simultaneously being respectful of people's rights and the planet.

Collaboration.
The format is deliberately simple — built for real discussion and real collaboration, not stage performance. A compact format with a limited number of participants, to ensure high-quality interactions.
Presentations, lightning talks and a digital poster wall
A few longer presentations will present key issues around digital sovereignty collaboration in Europe today, lightning talks will share concrete work by participants, and a digital poster wall will highlight the work of fair tech examples in Europe.
Roundtable discussions
Structured space between presentations — moderated roundtable discussions around topics of concern and interest regarding digital sovereignty collaboration.
Dedicated networking
The reason most people come. Generous, intentional networking time built into the day — not stolen from coffee breaks. The day continues with a conference dinner on the evening of 6 October, to which all participants are warmly invited.

The day itself. Luxembourg.
Luxembourg — at the centre of Europe.
Luxembourg sits at the geographic and political heart of the European tech-policy conversation, with direct rail and air links to every European hub. The summit is hosted at Mama Shelter Luxembourg.
Crucially, the Fair Tech Summit takes place the day before the Open Source Conference Luxembourg — making it easy to attend both with a single trip.

Two communities. One ambition.
The Fair Tech Summit Europe is co-organized by Mobifree and FairTEC — two complementary efforts to make ethical, sovereign and humane technology the European default.
The MOBIFREE project (Freedom in Human-centred and Ethical Mobile Software) brings together twelve European organizations to give European citizens more choice in human-centred, privacy-respecting mobile software.
mobifree.org →FairTEC is a trade association of commercial organizations committed to building credible, ethical technologies — ready to set the standard for European tech — across sustainability, digital freedom, digital sovereignty and good labour conditions.
It convenes companies that have moved past manifestos and are shipping the products that prove ethical tech is viable, today.

We're inviting speakers and contributors who would like to share their expertise and real-world experience of how collaborations on fair tech can help Europe achieve digital sovereignty. We're looking for honesty about what's hard, generosity with lessons learned, and a willingness to invite others into the work.
